Limerick Lake - 2025 News

NEWS UPDATE: November 13, 2025

Pretty quiet around the lake these days.  Hardly a boat to be seen anywhere.  The lake level has come up some with a few rainy days in recent weeks.  It looks like the snowstorm over the past weekend dropped a max of about 6 inches of snow by late Wednesday.  That seemed to be the point of max snow depth.  It has now warmed up a bit, and the snowpack is settling.  More typical November weather ahead with a mix of rain, snow, and very little sunshine.

The Rally of the Tall Pines is coming up on November 22.  This is the 2nd biggest event of the year in North Hastings. (biggest is the Gemboree).  Used to be a very busy weekend at the Lodge.  Spectator information is available on the Rally website.

I attended a Safe, Quiet Lakes webinar on Nov. 7th discussing the results of a survey that they do about every 4 years.  This year they had 7100 respondents representing roughly 100 lakes.  Much of the presentation focused on the dichotomy of the 90% of lake users who enjoy peace, quiet, and connecting with nature, as compared to the 10% who enjoy wakeboarding, power boating, and speed on the water.  That 10% can greatly affect the other 90%.  One interesting stat was that both groups felt that PWC users made a lake noisier and less safe.  Even wakeboarders have an issue with PWC users.  In 2013 only about 20% of those taking the survey believed that more regulation of boating was needed. (most felt boating should be self-regulated by educating boat operators)  By this year that number has risen to the mid-60% level believing more regulation is needed.  The survey results are available to view here:

The Fall Cottage Life show is November 14-16 at the International Center on Airport Road. There is a $3.00 off discount available using code: LAKELIFE3

We are now on winter burn rules.  Fires are permitted 24/7.

Due to scheduling conflicts, the November council meeting will be Tuesday, Nov. 25th.

The Rogers / FOCA special pricing plan for internet service is $60 per month this year.  (unless you have a Rogers phone in which case it remains $50 per month) Even at the $60 price it is the best internet service for many of us on the lake. It appears they throttle the 5G connection to 40MBps down, and 10MBps up.  That is plenty of bandwidth for any single-family use.   I am coming up on the end of my 2nd full season using that service and would grade it an A-.  If the service keeps working through power outages in the future I will up their grade to A+.

The dump is on Winter hours.  It is open Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday and holiday Mondays from 11AM to 4:30PM.

2026 fishing regulations are not yet posted.  If things remain unchanged, lake trout season will open January 1.  Bass season should open June 27, 2026 and close November 30. The Limerick chain of lakes has a "slot size" for lake trout that MUST be returned to the lake if caught.  It is roughly 16 to 22 inches.  It is also a "one line" lake when ice fishing.  The Limerick chain of lakes are at the very south end of zone 15.
