Been awhile since the news was updated. Hard to gather much local info when dealing with family business in northern Pennsylvania.
Did attend the November Limerick Township council meeting virtually on the 17th. The video quality is not too bad, but the audio to try to follow the meeting is awful. The default "automatic" direction of the camera seemed to be pointed squarely at Jan today. 95% of the meeting time she was front and center. I will chat with Victoria (Clerk) and see if something can be done to make the audio better.
There was a great presentation by the United Way seeking donations and describing the support they provide in North Hastings. When that was completed Council discussed the local food bank and voted to donate $1500 to it that had been in the "social programs" discretionary fund.
A shoreline purchase on Limerick passed with no discussion, and Council once again allowed/supported the Rally of the Tall Pines to use some of the municipalities roads given the proper assurances that damage will be repaired. Same agreement roughly as in past years. On a personal note, I will miss hosting the Rally participants this year. They were always a fun group to have at the lodge.
The Limerick Estates engineer tried to ask some questions during the public input part of the meeting, but his audio was even worse and no one could hear him. Will follow up to see if he attempted written communication using the Chat function that perhaps I could not see.
Turns out that Environment Canada has been watching the Limerick Lodge webcams for years. Had an inquiry from them asking what happened to the webcams. I pointed the person to the two new ones on the Limerick Lake site and got a nice "Thank You" note back from MECCC.
The lake depth and water temperature instrument was removed from the lake just after Thanksgiving. Hopefully the readings will be able to return in 2022 if I have a "friendly" place to mount the device. The air temperature updates remain live.
Internet service on the lake should be turning into a real business soon with Northern Rural Net taking over the service.
US tourists entering Canada at the 1000 Islands seem to be getting through with minimal issues. It looks like if you carefully follow the instructions on the CBSA website with the proper data entered into the ArriveCAN app things go OK. Be sure to carry your test results in hard copy. The app does not track that information.
South bound tourists are now able to enter the US. I crossed southbound on October 20 in a matter of seconds.
The Limerick chain of lakes are in fisheries zone 15. Lake trout season closed on September 30th. Bass season runs through November 30. As of now, bass season will open on June 25th, 2022. I say "as of now" in that 2022 seasons are not yet official. Lake trout re-opens for ice fishing on January 1, 2022. Limerick is a "one line" lake for ice fishing.
