Limerick Lake - 2026 News

NEWS UPDATE: October 25, 2026

Voting for Council and Mayor ends Monday at 8PM.  The newly elected mayor and council will tentatively be sworn in at 12:30PM, November 16th.

After a chilly start to the day, Saturday was one of the nicest late fall days in memory.  The afternoon warmed to 66F, 100% sunshine all day, and barely a whisper of wind that left the lake calm as glass all day.  A great day to get outdoor season ending chores done. Sunday should once again be fairly nice, although clouds are forecast to move in bringing a 30% chance of rain this evening and overnight.  Winds will build to be moderate from the north-west.  Tuesday night looks to be our first really hard freeze with Wednesday morning forecast to be a cold 18F.

The webcam at 165 South Shore is back on with a great view of the north-west corner of the lake.  The bear that had been in the camera view last winter has migrated inland to a safer location.

The list of candidates for the municipal election is posted on the municipal website.  (limerick.ca) Advanced on-line voting began on Monday the 19th.  The final day of voting is October 26th.

Here is a statement of position from incumbent mayor, Kim Carson:

The cottagers association, LWRA, is a registered 3rd party advertiser and as such can endorse and advertise for candidates of their choosing. They have endorsed Kim Carson for mayor, Jan Mackillican, Shawn Pack, and Kevin Charlton for council.  I was part of the committee that came up with those endorsements and agree with them 100%.  Check out the association website at lwra.ca for further info.

A reminder that the fall Cottage Life Show is coming up November 13-15.  No more great discounts on tickets though.

Today is the final day of the Toronto Snowmobile show at the International Center by the airport.  Spent many hours staffing my booth at that show through the years.

Dump is on winter hours through April 2027.  11AM to 4:30PM, Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday and holiday Mondays.  (fires/burning are still on summer restrictions through October 31)

There is an upcoming (October 28th) provincial webinar on the effects of road salt on drinking water and waterways of Ontario.  Follow this link to register:

The 2026 fishing regulations are on-line.

The fishing seasons and regulations for this area (zone 15) remained the same in 2026 as in recent years.  They are on pages 104-114 of the 2026 regulations book.  Bass started on June 27 and ends November 30.  Trout started January 1 and ended September 30 with the slot size of 16 to 21 inches to be returned to the lake.  It is a one-line lake for ice fishing. Trout will most likely open once again on January 1, 2027 for ice fishing. I will keep an eye out for the 2027 regulations.  They are usually posted in early December.
