Limerick Lake - 2026 News

NEWS UPDATE: October 07, 2026

A chilly but nice day on Tuesday.  Lots of frost around in the morning and the afternoon only managed to reach 57F.  Wednesday is starting out mostly overcast and quite a bit warmer with a morning low of 46F.  No frost at that temperature.  There is some rain off to the east.  None in this neighborhood yet.  Looks like two unsettled days ahead with about a 50/50 chance of rain all the way through Friday morning.  The coming holiday weekend should be nice.  Mix of sun and clouds with the temperature a few degrees above normal.  Through the decades we have done everything from water ski to shovel 8 inches of snow off the dock on Thanksgiving weekend

Game cam caught what looks to be a coyote on the west side of the cottage around midnight.

Limerick Townships own aero-space company, Nordspace, has its first low earth orbit satellite now circling the earth.  It is mostly a test device that will experiment with some meteorology over the far north.  Looking forward to following their progress over the coming months and years.

Virtually attended the 2026 ALTO corporate AGM on Wednesday afternoon.  It was disappointingly vague on many subjects.  It sounds like surveying and soils engineering are what the major activity is for now to determine the exact 60-meter-wide corridor.  They also talked a great deal about collaboration with Via but were not clear on what that really meant.  When asked about stations in smaller communities like Smiths Falls, Tweed, or Havelock, their answer was that would be part of the Via collaboration.

The list of candidates for the municipal election is posted on the municipal website.  (limerick.ca) On-line voter registration is over, but the municipality has put voter verification back online.  There was a social media post that voting is now open.  That is incorrect.  On-line voter verification is back.  Advanced voting does not start until October 19th.

Here is a statement of position from incumbent mayor, Kim Carson:

The 2026 fishing regulations are on-line.

The fishing seasons and regulations for this area (zone 15) remain the same as recent years.  They are on pages 104-114 of the regulations book.  Bass started on June 27 and ends November 30.  Trout started January 1 and ended September 30 with the slot size of 16 to 21 inches to be returned to the lake.  It is a one-line lake for ice fishing.
