It has sure been an up and down few weeks for the temperature and snowpack. A nice, 8 inch snowfall on Boxing Day was soon wrecked by temps in the mid 40F range and rain. A few squalls and some flurries have tried to put a fresh coating of snow down, but still, lots of icy places. The snow gauge in the yard is showing only about 6 inches of snow.
In spite of that warm spell, a few of the major snowmobile trails in the area are showing "yellow" again. Check the ITG (Interactive Trail Guide) on the OFSC webpage for latest updates. I grab a screen shot of the local area every few days and post it on the trails page of this website. Hopefully we get a bit more snow in the next week to get more trails open.
There will be no January Limerick council meeting. I believe the next meeting is February 18th (Wednesday instead of Monday due to Family Day holiday)
The Rogers / FOCA special pricing plan for internet service is $60 per month this year. (unless you have a Rogers phone in which case it remains $50 per month) Even at the $60 price it is the best internet service for many of us on the lake. It appears they throttle the 5G connection to 40MBps down, and 10MBps up. That is plenty of bandwidth for any single-family use. I am coming up on the end of my 2nd full season using that service and would grade it an A-. If the service keeps working through power outages in the future I will up their grade to A+.
We are now on winter burn rules. Fires are permitted 24/7. Some of the signs around the municipality have not been changed from "No Day Burning" so that can be confusing.
The dump is on Winter hours. It is open Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday and holiday Mondays from 11AM to 4:30PM.
