Limerick Lake - 2026 News

NEWS UPDATE: October 11, 2026

A nicer day on Saturday than the previous few.  Lots of sunshine and light wind.  A good day for those closing up the cottage or to otherwise enjoy the lake.  Got to chat with a bunch of folks at the marina in the afternoon while waiting for Marilyn to arrive.  Sunday morning is overcast and calm.  No fog today.  Looks like the rain is now forecast to reach here late afternoon today and continue into tonight.  Should be mostly passed by Monday morning.  The coming week looks to be just about seasonal.  Afternoons in the mid to upper 50s with a chance of rain Tuesday and again Friday.  One of our favorite golf courses sent me a two for one weekday coupon, so hoping to get in a last round of the year Wednesday afternoon.

Spotted a transient boat with 4 fishermen in it illegally fishing for trout on Saturday.  One of those times you wish that a CO was on the lake.

Had an update from a neighbor on the Bell fiber optic project.  Several steps still to go.  Cottagers will be asked by Bell if they want to hook up their cottage to the new pedestals installed this summer.  The hookup is free, so no reason to say no.  Saying yes does not commit you to taking service. Then it is estimated that sometime next summer crews will work their way around the lake to do the fiber terminations in each pedestal.  The preliminary target is to have the system lit by late summer 2027, but lots of variables.

The list of candidates for the municipal election is posted on the municipal website.  (limerick.ca) On-line voter registration is over, but the municipality has put voter verification back online.  Advanced voting starts October 19th.

Here is a statement of position from incumbent mayor, Kim Carson:

The 2026 fishing regulations are on-line.

The fishing seasons and regulations for this area (zone 15) remain the same as recent years.  They are on pages 104-114 of the regulations book.  Bass started on June 27 and ends November 30.  Trout started January 1 and ended September 30 with the slot size of 16 to 21 inches to be returned to the lake.  It is a one-line lake for ice fishing.
