Limerick Lake - 2026 News

NEWS UPDATE: October 26, 2026

A BIG thank you for everyone who took time to vote in the municipal election.  Kim won for mayor in a landslide with 76% of the vote.  The three council candidates supported by the LWRA, Jan, Shawn, and Kevin also won.  Selena Bruni from
Steenburg Lake won the 4th council seat.  With an incumbent mayor and two of 4 council members returning, the new council should be able to hit the ground running.

Also wish to congratulate Tracy McGibbon for winning for mayor of Bancroft.  Tracy has worked tirelessly for decades for the community.  She will do a great job.

Sunday was another in our string of recent nice, autumn days.  Not quite as nice as Saturday, but still pleasant for late October.  Some clouds and a moderate southerly wind in the afternoon.  A stunning red sunset later in the day.  Monday has dawned much warmer than recent days with a thick cloud layer.  Light rain has been falling on and off. Tuesday night looks to be our first really hard freeze with Wednesday morning forecast to be a cold 18F.

The webcam at 165 South Shore is back on with a great view of the north-west corner of the lake.  The bear that had been in the camera view last winter has migrated inland to a safer location.

A reminder that the fall Cottage Life Show is coming up November 13-15.  No more great discounts on tickets though.

Dump is on winter hours through April 2027.  11AM to 4:30PM, Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday and holiday Mondays.  (fires/burning are still on summer restrictions through October 31)

There is an upcoming (October 28th) provincial webinar on the effects of road salt on drinking water and waterways of Ontario.  Follow this link to register:

The 2026 fishing regulations are on-line.

https://lwra.ca/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/2026-fishing-regulations-summary-en-2025-12-08.pdf

The fishing seasons and regulations for this area (zone 15) remained the same in 2026 as in recent years.  They are on pages 104-114 of the 2026 regulations book.  Bass started on June 27 and ends November 30.  Trout started January 1 and ended September 30 with the slot size of 16 to 21 inches to be returned to the lake.  It is a one-line lake for ice fishing. Trout will most likely open once again on January 1, 2027 for ice fishing. I will keep an eye out for the 2027 regulations.  They are usually posted in early December.
