Limerick Lake - 2026 News

NEWS UPDATE: October 13, 2026

A dismal day on Monday with thick overcast most of the day.  It was a few degrees above normal, and winds were light for most of the day.  The forecast was fairly accurate with rain starting around 6PM.  Awoke several times during the night to rumbling thunder and lightning.  A particularly heavy shower right around 6AM Tuesday. We are under a heavy rain warning through later today with as much as 2.5 inches of rain possible.  Just under an inch has fallen so far.  The lake level is up 1.5 inches overnight.  The weather stays unsettled through Thursday.  At least temperatures stay around normal for this time of year.  No cold snaps in the seven-day forecast yet.

Had an update from a neighbor on the Bell fiber optic project.  Several steps still to go.  Cottagers will be asked by Bell if they want to hook up their cottage to the new pedestals installed this summer.  The hookup is free, so no reason to say no.  Saying yes does not commit you to taking service. Then it is estimated that sometime next summer crews will work their way around the lake to do the fiber terminations in each pedestal.  The preliminary target is to have the system lit by late summer 2027, but lots of variables.

The list of candidates for the municipal election is posted on the municipal website.  (limerick.ca) On-line voter registration is over, but the municipality has put voter verification back online.  Advanced voting starts October 19th.

The fishing seasons and regulations for this area (zone 15) remain the same as recent years.  They are on pages 104-114 of the regulations book.  Bass started on June 27 and ends November 30.  Trout started January 1 and ended September 30 with the slot size of 16 to 21 inches to be returned to the lake.  It is a one-line lake for ice fishing.
