Continues to be a beautiful early autumn week. Lots of sunshine and light winds on this shore. I know that other places on the lake have been quite choppy. What is strange is that the wind has been from the north-east for the last few days. A north-east wind typically brings rain within a day, but not this time. The barometer continues to be near record highs for the year signaling continued nice weather. Still no precipitation in the forecast all the way through the 1st of the month. Canvas on the boat was covered in dew once again today, not ice.
This is the final weekend of the Bancroft Studio Tour. Leaves are not at peak color yet but still should be a good weekend to follow the tour map around the region and visit a few of the artists studios.
Dump is on winter hours through April 2027. 11AM to 4:30PM, Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday and holiday Mondays.
The list of candidates for the election is posted on the municipal website. The LWRA held a Board meeting recently and after MUCH discussion voted to support Kim for mayor, and council candidates Jan Mackillican, Shawn Pack, and Kevin Charlton. On-line voter registration is over. Call the municipal office (613-474-2863) during normal business hours to verify if you are registered to vote.

I had a chance to talk issues with candidate Kevin Charlton after the Council meeting. Seems like a great guy who became active in community events and organizations (including becoming a volunteer fireman) as soon as he moved to the area. He was/is a victim of a certain large landowner in the municipality as he is part of a hunt camp. No love lost there. He is currently in the process of writing a platform statement which I will pass along once I have it.

Similar to the iSampleon.ca website for reporting invasive species, the Ministry of Health has created eTick.ca to report tick bites or tick sightings. Like the invasive species website, you take a picture of the bug, fill in some information and submit it. You will get a reply as to what type of bug it is and whether it is dangerous or not. The black leg tick that spreads Lyme disease has not been identified north of 7 in Hastings County. But it has been identified at a similar latitude in Haliburton and Minden.
Summer burning rules remain in effect until November 1. Fires under 2 meters in diameter are permitted 7PM to 7AM only. Check the municipal website for information regarding total fire bans during the summer should that become necessary. There is also information there on how to apply for a permit for a legal daytime fire through the summer months. (conditions allowing)

The fishing seasons and regulations for this area (zone 15) remain the same as recent years. They are on pages 104-114 of the regulations book. Bass started on June 27 and ends November 30. Trout started January 1 and ends September 30 with the slot size of 16 to 21 inches to be returned to the lake. It is a one-line lake for ice fishing.
